I noticed I had an authority number and was searching for information on what it was. I came across an article that suggested adding a top commentators widget/plugin. This is a summary of his idea: By being a top commentator on someones blog (which gets reset monthly)you get an authority rating. In other words others want to comment on yours to get an authority rating. And if you comment on blogs with this plugin you will get noted and given autority - which takes blog higher. Worth a shot.
