Some of my Windows mobile pocket Pc programs try to connect GPRS. But i have to pay for the data downloaded through GPRS. And now i have my huge monthly bills for GPRS. I decided to disable my GPRS connection until i get a suitable plan. So if you have no use of GPRS connection or you are having problem with huge monthly bill for GPRS you can use this tricks to disable GPRS on your windows mobile pocket pc.

First method ( Easy way)
At first Go to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks
then create a new connection without any Modem settings. And select that connection as your default Data connection.

Second Method
By installing This no data cab you can disable gprs Connection. I hope this version support your windows mobile pocket pc. Download Nodata cab from here.

By editing registry:
At first use a good registry editor like PHM Registry Editor or CeRegEditor to edit on your pocket pc. I use both of them to edit my windows mobile registry. Now follow this steps:

In the registry you’ve got the following key:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections
There are all your data connections.
Export this “connections” key to enable GPRS later on.

In my MDA I’ve got some connections. Go inside every data connection and you’ll find a key “Enabled”.
This key has a value 0x1 (1), change this for every connection to 0x0 (0)

First method should work in Pocket pc. Disconnect your gprs connection and Create a new connection from connection tab. Don’t add any modem to the new connection. Go to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks. Select new connection as default on both field.. It should do the trick.

  3. I have a Samsung Omnia pro B7320,,i tried to install the nodata. For a while no connection is showing. Then later when I checked again, it’s already connected to gprs.

    1. I have an HTC Imagio. At first when I installed NoData I thought it wan’t working properly because sometimes when I used NoData to disable a connection I would find that later the connection was on. For me this turned out to be operator error: if a data connection is On when you used NoData to disable it, you also have to manually turn the data connection to Off (in Comm Manager) in order to ‘synch’ the settings. Once I realized this NoData has worked perfectly. Hope this helps for you.

  4. Hi, I just recently purchased an OmmniaPro B7610 and i’m having the same problem when i stream youtube it automatically searches for gprs even with my wi-fi turned on already. Can the nodata work for my mobile model and can you pls tell me how to install it? btw my mobile’s OS version is windows mobile 6.5 Hope you can help me with my problem. thanks! 🙂

  5. Hi again… i was able to download and install the nodata.cab file and disabled everything that was enabled with gprs. But i still can’t stream youtube videos with my wi-fi. When i tried it now, instead of going to gprs… it says “cannot connect with this settings” Can you pls pls help me!

      1. Hi Jim,
Yeah, I was able to disable my gprs.. problem is, i still can’t stream youtube videos. With gprs disabled, a message pops up saying “Cannot connect with current settings. To change your connection settings tap settings” I don’t know what settings i still have to change coz i’ve already connected to wifi and can surf/browse fine.

  6. I’ve tried NoData on my Omnia 2 and it works wonderful. It does what it supposed to do. Better than any registry tweaks. Whereby I can disable/enable whenever i want.

  7. I had a quick question. Basically, I want to upgrade my 8125
to an HTC Pure. I don’t want any Data beyond MMS and SMS
messaging. I don’t stream videos or use the internet, so I
don’t need these features. Will these methods still allow
me to receive messages while killing the “always on” internet
    features?

  8. it works very well on htc diamond 2. just download NOdata.cab (NOGPRS.cab) and install to your smart phone. after installation, start the application and disable internet and wap gprs will do. just make sure you disable your data connection in the data connection setting to make it effective.

  9. Thanks very much for the NOGPRS. It works on Windows Mobile 6.5 as well even a warning came up saying it was written for the previous version of WM.

  10. The reg tweak option is just too easy and works great. Took me 30 seconds.

BTW, heed the advice and back-up the key. You might need it later.

    Thanks Jim

    Delete a mobile (GPRS) connection

Deleting a connection removes its functionality, such as connecting to the Internet with GPRS. In most cases, your mobile (GPRS) connection has been configured by your mobile service provider. It is not recommended that you delete a mobile (GPRS) connection.
    1) Tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections.
    2) Under My ISP or My Work Network, tap Manage existing connections.
    3) Tap and hold the GPRS connection until you see a menu and then tap Delete.
