Disable or Uninstall Windows Messenger in Windows XP

WinXp messenger eats some memory. If you need free memory, You can disable it. If you want to Disable or Uninstall Windows Xp messenger, here is the tips:

Select “Start”
Then “Control Panel”
then click “Administrative Tools”
Note: In Windows XP Home edition, Administrative Tools is in Performance and Maintenance

Click “Services”

Then Right-click on “Messenger”
Select “Stop”
To permanently disable Messenger:
Right click “Messenger”
Select “Properties”
Change “Startup Type” to “Disabled” and click “OK”

Uninstalling Windows Messenger
Most of the windows Users Know About this Tips already.

On XP Systems without SP1:

Click Start >> Run Then type the following:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Press [ENTER]
Restart Windows

On XP Systems WITH SP 1 & 2:

Control Panel
Add / Remove Programs
Click on “Add/Remove Windows Components” on the left
UNcheck “Windows Messenger”
Click “Next”
Click “Finish”
Reboot
